Fablok Chrzanów
Fablok Chrzanów is a Polish sports club, founded in 1926 in Chrzanów. Its name reflects the name of club's sponsor - Fablok, the biggest and most important company in town. Fablok's most famous association football player is Paweł Cyganek, who played one game for the Polish national team, in a 4–2 win over Hungary on 27 August 1939. The club, however, also had other sections - ice-hockey, chess, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and handball (which became the strongest one, reaching Nationwide Polish Handball League). A few years ago, handball section split with Fablok and now exists under the name of MTS Chrzanów. Presently, after financial problems, Fablok supports only one section - association football. As of 2024–25 season, the team plays in Wadowice group of the regional league. Liga Okręgowa
The liga okręgowa (in some voivodeship named klasa okręgowa, English: regional league) is one of the tiers of the Polish football league system. The league is split into 60 groups, and is present in every voivodeship. Teams promoted from liga okręgowa move up to the IV liga, whilst relegated teams descend to the Klasa A leagues. In 12 out of 16 voivodeship, liga okręgowa stands as the sixth tier of league competition. There are four exceptions - the Greater Poland, Lesser Poland, Masovian and Silesian voivodeships, where the V liga exists as the sixth level, whereas the liga okręgowa represents the seventh level - teams promoted from liga okręgowa move up to the V liga, whilst relegated teams descend to the Klasa A groups. Klasa A
Klasa A represents the seventh level of the Polish football league system, Polish football hierarchy. Teams promoted from Klasa A move up to the liga okręgowa, whilst relegated teams descend to the Klasa B leagues. The exceptions are Klasa A in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, where it is the lowest tier of the game (no Klasa B), and in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, where it is the eighth tier of the football hierarchy, due to the existence of V liga in this region. Chrzanów
Chrzanów () is a town in southern Poland with 35,651 inhabitants as of December 2021. It is situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship (since 1999) and is the seat of Chrzanów County. History History to 1809 It is impossible to establish a reliable date for the foundation of the town. A stronghold existed on the site, which was later raised to the rank of a castellany. The earliest documents which corroborate the existence of Chrzanów castellany come from the late 12th century when, in around 1178, Chrzanów castellany was annexed to Silesia by order of Duke Casimir II the Just. Fablok
Fablok is a Polish manufacturer of locomotives, based in Chrzanów. Until 1947 the official name was ''First Factory of Locomotives in Poland Ltd.'' (), Fablok being a widely used syllabic abbreviation of ''Fabryka Lokomotyw'', among others as the company's telegraphic address. It is now named "BUMAR - FABLOK S.A.". Fablok is located in the town of Chrzanów in Lesser Poland. As of 2009, Fablok no longer builds new locomotives. History Early years 1919-1939 Fablok was established in 1919. Paweł Cyganek
Paweł Cyganek (4 October 1913 – 11 September 1995) was a Polish Association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward. In 1939, he made his sole appearance for the Poland national football team, Poland national team. Cyganek was born in Wirek, a district of the Upper Silesian city of Ruda Śląska. From early childhood he loved soccer and was a very fast runner, so at age 14 he became a forward on the local team Wawel Wirek. In the 1930s, Wawel played in Silesian A-Class, the strongest regional league in Poland (in interwar Poland, A-Class was equivalent of today’s I liga). Cyganek was widely regarded as too good for this division, drawing interest from Ekstraklasa, top division teams. Among these were Śląsk Świętochłowice, Ruch Chorzów and KS Cracovia, Cracovia. Wadowice () is a town in southern Poland, southwest of Kraków with 17,455 inhabitants (2022), situated on the Skawa river, confluence of Vistula, in the eastern part of Silesian Foothills (Pogórze Śląskie).
