Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS) is a professional certification, professional qualification to practise as a senior surgeon in Republic of Ireland, Ireland or the United Kingdom. It is bestowed on an wikt:intercollegiate, intercollegiate basis by the four Royal Colleges of Surgeons (the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (chartered 1784), Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (chartered 1505), and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow). The initials may be used as post-nominal letters. Richard Partridge
Richard Partridge FRS, FRCS (19 January 1805, in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire – 25 March 1873, in London) was a British surgeon. Although he became President of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society, he is best known for his part in apprehending the London Burkers gang and for failing to spot a bullet lodged in Giuseppe Garibaldi's leg. He was the tenth child and youngest son of twelve children of Samuel Partridge, a Glaswegian merchant who moved to Ross-on-Wye in his retirement. Joseph Jordan (doctor)
Joseph Jordan, FRCS, (3 March 1787 – 31 March 1873) was an English surgeon known primarily for his involvement in developing medical education outside its then traditional base of London. He established a medical school in Manchester and was an honorary surgeon of the Manchester Royal Infirmary, as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Early life Joseph Jordan was descended from Dutch immigrants who had emigrated to England in the 14th century. His grandfather was William Jordan, a printer of linen and cotton who had established himself in Manchester in 1745 and whose son, also called William, had six children from his marriage to Mary Moors. Joseph was born on 3 March 1787 as the youngest of the four sons. Jordan was a diligent but wayward child at school and was expelled when he damaged its clock while investigating the mechanism. Ernest Marshall Cowell
Major General Sir Ernest Marshall Cowell KBE CB KHS TD DSO DL FRCS (24 February 1886 – 26 February 1971) was a British military officer and surgeon. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War I and World War II and served as the director of medical services for the Allied Forces in North Africa from 1942 to 1944. He was appointed Honorary Surgeon to the King in 1944. Early life and education Cowell was born on 24 February 1886. He was the son of Jasper Cowell of Steyning and Alice Marshall. He was educated at Steyning Grammar School and earned his medical degree at the University of London's medical school in 1909. Robert Keate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, FRCS (14 March 1777 – 2 October 1857) was a British surgeon, and Serjeant-Surgeon to King William IV and Queen Victoria. Early life He was born in Laverton, Somerset, Laverton, Somerset, the fourth son of William Keate, rector of Laverton, and brother of John Keate (1773–1852), headmaster of Eton College. Keate was educated at Bath Grammar School. Personal life Keate had four daughters and two sons.
