Nemšová
Nemšová () is a town in the Trenčín District, Trenčín Region in northwestern Slovakia. Geography Nemšová is located in the Ilava Basin at the confluence of the Váh and Vlára rivers, at the foothills of the White Carpathians. It is from Trenčín and from the Czech Republic, Czech border. History The first written record about Nemšová was in 1246. The present-day town exists since 1989, when it was created by merger of the villages of Nemšová, Ľuborča, Kľúčové and Trenčianska Závada. Demographics According to the 2001 census, the town had 6,136 inhabitants. 98.1% of inhabitants were Slovaks, 1.1% Czech people, Czechs and 0.1% Moravian people, Moravians. The religious makeup was 92.9% Roman Catholics, 4.6% people with no religious affiliation, and 0.6% Lutherans. Ondrej Šmelko (born 1 September 1967) is a former Slovak international football defender who played for clubs in Czechoslovakia and Russia. Career Born in Bardejov, Šmelko began playing football for FK Inter Bratislava. He would make 38 appearances in the Czechoslovak first division with Inter Bratislava, and a further 22 appearances in the Czech first division with FC Svit Zlín. He enjoyed a successful spell with Slovak side Ozeta Dukla Trenčín, and joined Russian side FC Gazovik-Gazprom Izhevsk for the 2003 Russian First Division season. The 3. Liga is the third-tier football league in Slovakia, established in 1993. As of the 2024–25 season, it comprises 33 teams divided into two geographical groups: 3. liga Západ (West) and 3. liga Východ (East).
