FC Sfîntul Gheorghe
FC Sfîntul Gheorghe is a Moldovan professional football club based in Suruceni, Moldova. They play in the Moldovan Super Liga, the top division in Moldovan football. History The club was formed in 2003. Until 2007, it was represented by seven youth teams, aged 10–18 years. In 2007, the Under-18 team became the champion of The Republic of Moldova. In 2008–2009, the club decided to enter the second tier of Moldovan football, the Divizia A. In 2009, due to an excellent infrastructure of two stadiums, one with artificial turf and another with natural turf, the club met all the licensing criteria and obtained the "A" licence, which allowed the team to play in the Divizia Națională. The 2011–12 Moldovan National Division ( Moldovan: Divizia Națională) was the 21st season of top-tier football in Moldova. The competition began on 23 July 2011 and ended on 23 May 2012. The league was competed by 12 teams and won by Sheriff Tiraspol. Dacia Chișinău, Zimbru Chișinău and, as winners of the 2011–12 Moldovan Cup, Milsami Orhei gained places in the qualification rounds of 2012–13 UEFA Europa League. CSCA–Rapid Chișinău and FC Costuleni were originally relegated on competitive grounds, but were both spared later after Sfintul Gheorghe Suruceni did not obtain a National Division licence for 2012–13 and only one team could be promoted from the 2011–12 A Division on the same grounds. The 2009–10 Moldovan National Division ( ro, Divizia Națională) was the 19th season of top-tier football in Moldova. The season began on 5 July 2008, with the final round of matches played on 16 May 2009. Sheriff Tiraspol retained their title as defending champions. Team changes On 6 June 2009, Tiligul-Tiras Tiraspol announced that the club would dissolve, citing a lack of funds as the reason. As a consequence, Academia Chișinău were spared from relegation.
