FC Hämeenlinna
FC Hämeenlinna is a Finnish football club, based in Hämeenlinna. The club's manager is Tomi Uusitorppa, and it plays its home matches at Kauriala. The team was formed in 1991. Club's history Initial years FC Hämeenlinna was founded in autumn 1991, when the town's two football teams HPK and Pallo-Kärpät decided to merge. In the spring of 1992, K-Team took the place of HPK in the Kolmonen. The team were coached by Seppo Pyykkö and Teuvo Palkki. FC Hämeenlinna in the autumn of 1993 gained promotion to the Kakkonen, where their stay was short-lived, as they gained promotion this time to the Ykkönen. The club played at this level until 1998, when they were relegated back to the Kakkonen. The first team won the Ykkönen Cup in the summer of 1996. In the autumn of 1998, the club launched a project with the objective of achieving to top-level football for Hämeenlinna. Geert Meijer (born 15 March 1951) is a Dutch football manager and former professional player. Playing career Born in Sellingen, Meijer played as a left winger, and began his professional career in 1972 with FC Amsterdam. After moving to city rivals Ajax three years later, where he spent four seasons, Meijer spent a year in England with Bristol City, making 15 appearances in the First Division. Toni Korkeakunnas (born 15 May 1968) is a Finnish football manager and a former professional player, who serves currently as the head coach of Norwegian Eliteserien club Haugesund. Playing career Korkeakunnas started his senior career with TP-Seinäjoki, where he spent eight years in total. Ville Lyytikäinen (4 February 1967 – 19 December 2016) was a Finnish football agent and football coach, born in Helsinki. His last work was head coach of Atlantis FC in Finland's second highest tier, Ykkönen. In the past Lyytikäinen coached FC Jokerit, FC Hämeenlinna in top-tier Veikkausliiga and FC Honka in second-tier Ykkönen.
