F. Randall Farmer
Frank Randall "Randy" Farmer (born October 16, 1961) is an American game developer, co-creator with Chip Morningstar of one of the first graphical online games, 1985's ''Habitat''. In 2001 he and Morningstar were the first recipients of the Pioneer Award (at the time called the "First Penguin Award") by the International Game Developers Association. Farmer was involved with the creation of Yahoo! 360 and Communities.com, and has published several works on web and game development, social media, and online communities. Biography Farmer was born in New Jersey to Frank and Katherine Farmer, and grew up in Michigan. His interest in computers began as a teenager in 1974, as his Junior High School had access to a teletype. Apple II ("apple Roman numerals, two", stylized as Apple ][) is a series of microcomputers manufactured by Apple Computer, Inc. from 1977 to 1993. The Apple II (original), original Apple II model, which gave the series its name, was designed by Steve Wozniak and was first sold on June 10, 1977. Michael Benedikt (urbanist)
Michael Benedikt is an architect, urbanist, and academic. He is noted for formalizing and promoting the geographical concept called isovist. Benedikt is also an advocate of the interior design concept called "interiorist" practice. Biography He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of the Witwatersran (South Africa) in 1971 and his Master of Environmental Design (M.E.D.) from Yale School of Architecture in 1975. In 2003, he was awarded the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture's Teacher of Year Award, and in 2004 was named a Distinguished Professor by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). The Game Developers Choice Awards are awards annually presented at the Game Developers Conference for outstanding game developers and games. Introduced in 2001, the Game Developers Choice Awards were preceded by the Spotlight Awards, which were presented from 1997 to 1999. Since then, the ceremony for the Independent Games Festival is held just prior to the Choice Awards ceremony. Winner selection process Nominations for games are made by International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), a group of leading game creators. Votes are then additionally made by editors of Game Developer. Any video game released in the preceding calendar year, regardless of medium, is eligible to be nominated, though upgrades, expansions, and mission packs are not eligible to be nominated.
