Eswatini Girl Guides Association
The Eswatini Girl Guides Association (formerly The Swaziland Girl Guides Association) is the national Guiding organization of Eswatini (Swaziland). It serves 3,450 members (as of 2017) (1,010 members in 2003, 1,836 in 1972). It was founded in 1924 as a girls-only organization. World Chief Guide Olave Baden Powell visited in 1950 it became a Branch Association of The Guide Association in the UK. It became a self-governing body in 1969 when it became an associate member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1969. The organization merged with "The Wayfareres" a similar organization. There are three youth sections. Manzini, Eswatini
Manzini (formerly known as ''Bremersdorp'') is a large city in Eswatini (Swaziland), which is also the capital of Eswatini's Manzini Region. The city is the country's largest urban center ahead of Mbabane, with a population of 110,000 (2008). It is known as "The Hub" of Eswatini and lies on the MR3 road. Eswatini's primary industrial site at Matsapha lies near the town's western border. History A commercial center from the time a trading post was opened in 1885, Bremersdorp was designated a township in 1898. Arthur Bremer sold his hotel for use as British Colonial authorities who had administered Swaziland since 1894 as their national administrative headquarters, and stipulated that the settlement would bear his name (''dorp'' is the Afrikaans word for "village"). World Association Of Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with these bodies. Girl Guides (known as Girl Scouts in the United States and some other countries) is a worldwide movement, originally and largely still designed for girls and women only. The movement began in 1909 when girls requested to join the then-grassroots Boy Scout Movement. The movement developed in diverse ways in a variety of places around the world. In some places, girls joined or attempted to join preexisting Scouting organizations. Eswatini ( ; ss, eSwatini ), officially the Kingdom of Eswatini and formerly named Swaziland ( ; officially renamed in 2018), is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. The ''Ottawa Journal'' was a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from 1885 to 1980. It was founded in 1885 by A. Woodburn as the ''Ottawa Evening Journal''. Its first editor was John Wesley Dafoe who came from the ''Winnipeg Free Press''. In 1886, it was bought by Philip Dansken Ross. The paper began publishing a morning edition in 1917. In 1919, the paper's publishers bought the ''Ottawa Free Press'', whose former owner, E. Norman Smith, then became editor with Grattan O'Leary. In 1959, it was bought by F.P. Publications. By then, the ''Journal'', whose readers tended to come from rural areas, was trailing the ''Ottawa Citizen'', its main competitor.
