Eshkol Regional Council
Eshkol Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית אשכול, ''Mo'atza Ezorit Eshkol'') is a regional council in the north-western Negev, in Israel's Southern District. The regional council's territory lies midway between Ashkelon and Beersheba, bounded on the west by the Gaza Strip while the eastern border abuts the territory of the Bnei Shimon Regional Council. Due to its proximity to the Gaza Strip, the region has experienced numerous sporadic waves of violence, primarily as a result of rocket attacks, mortar strikes, and fires caused by incendiary kites and balloons launched from Gaza Strip. These waves of violence often result in widespread damage to farms and structures within the region. Transport Eshkol Regional Council is linked to Tel Aviv by bus routes 379 (local) and route 479 (express), to Be'er Sheva by bus route 35, to Ashkelon by bus route 36 and to Jerusalem by bus 495. Dan BaDarom ( he, דן בדרום) is an Israeli bus company, which provides bus routes in the Northern Negev. The company is a subsidiary of Dan Bus Company. In 2015, Dan Bus Company established the subsidiary Dan BaDarom to compete on tenders to operate bus routes in southern Israel. In May 2015, Dan BaDarom won a tender to operate bus routes in the Northern Negev, Ashkelon, Kiryat Malakhi, Kiryat Gat, Sderot, Netivot and Ofakim. The tender contained Egged Ta'avura's routes in the area and some new routes. In January 2016, Dan BaDarom won the tender of the urban bus routes in Be'er Sheva. Nirim
Nirim ( he, נִירִים, ''lit.'' Meadows) is a kibbutz in the northwestern Negev in Israel. Located near the border with the Gaza Strip, about 7 kilometers east of Khan Yunis, it falls under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. In it had a population of . Nir Yitzhak ( he, נִיר יִצְחָק, Yitzhak's Meadow) is a kibbutz in the northwestern Negev desert of Israel. Nir Oz
Nir Oz ( he, נִיר עֹז, ניר עוז, ''lit.'' Meadow of Strength) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. It is located in the northwestern Negev desert between Magen and Nirim, and covers 20,000 dunams. Nir Oz is under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Founded on 1 October 1955, as a Nahal settlement, it was recognized as a kibbutz two months later. Due to its proximity to Gaza, Nir Oz farmers often come under Palestinian sniper fire. In 2008, the Israel Defense Forces asked the kibbutz to harvest its potatoes at night to lower the risk of attack. Magen ( he, מָגֵן, ''lit.'' Shield) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the north-western Negev desert and covering 8,500 dunams, it falls under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. Ein HaShlosha
Ein HaShlosha ( he, עין השלושה, lit. 'Spring of the Three') is a kibbutz in the western Negev desert in Israel. It falls under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. History The kibbutz was named in memory of three of the founding members who were killed during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. It was established during the 1950s by a Nahal group of Zionist youth from South America, members of the youth movement HaNoar HaTzioni, on lands of the former kibbutz Neve Yair (Neve Yair was established in 1949 by members of the Lehi but was abandoned in June 1950). During its first years the kibbutz suffered bombardment by the Egyptian army. Almost adjacent to the Gaza border with Khan Yunis, the kibbutz was regularly hit by Palestinian gunfire during the Gaza–Israel conflict in 2008.
