Enoggera Creek
Enoggera Creek is a creek which flows through the City of Brisbane in South-East Queensland, Australia. Geography Enoggera Creek rises in the suburb of Enoggera Reservoir on the D'Aguilar Range and flows into the Brisbane River (becoming Breakfast Creek in the final stage). The creek's headwaters form on the southern slopes of Mount Nebo in Brisbane Forest Park. Within the suburb of Enoggera Reservoir, the creek is dammed by Enoggera Dam ( (). After which, it meanders in a south-easterly direction, leaving the undisturbed parkland and flowing through the Brisbane suburbs of The Gap, Ashgrove (where it separates the neighbourhood of St Johns Wood from the rest of the suburb), Alderley, Newmarket, Red Hill, Kelvin Grove, Wilston, Herston, Windsor and Bowen Hills. The Gap, Queensland
The Gap is a north-western suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , The Gap had a population of 17,318 people. Geography The Gap is by road north-west of the Brisbane GPO. The Gap was named for its geographical location in the valley between Mount Coot-tha and Enoggera Hill (i.e. '' 'the gap' between hills'') which both form part of the Taylor Range. Ashgrove is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Ashgrove had a population of 13,039 people. Geography Ashgrove is located approximately by road north-west of the Brisbane GPO. Moggill Creek
Moggill Creek is a creek in Brisbane, the largest city in Queensland, Australia. The creek rises on the Taylor Range and runs in a south-easterly direction from the southern edge of Brisbane Forest Park in Kholo and Pullenvale, flowing through Upper Brookfield, Brookfield and joining the Brisbane River at Kenmore. Before entering the Brisbane River the creek is crossed by Moggill Road and winds through Rafting Ground Reserve. Aboriginal naming of Moggil Creek comes from their description of the large water-lizards that were hunted and eaten in the area. They called these lizards, "magil" (moggill) when they were disturbed and jumped into the water. There are various land uses within the Moggill catchment, including commercial and residential areas, grazing and natural bushland. The Kedron Brook is a creek that flows through the northern suburbs of Brisbane in the south-east region of Queensland, Australia. Course and features Formed by spring D'Aguilar Range within the southern portion of the D'Aguilar National Park, Kedron Brook rises below the retail shopping strip, near the outer suburb of Upper Kedron and flows in an easterly direction. 1974 Brisbane Flood
In January 1974 a flood occurred in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia after three weeks of continual rain. The Brisbane River, which runs through the heart of the city, broke its banks and flooded the surrounding areas. The cyclone that produced the flood also flooded surrounding cities: Ipswich, Beenleigh, and the Gold Coast. In total, there were 16 fatalities, 300 people injured, 8,000 homes destroyed and an estimated A$980 million in damages.
