Elvio Banchero
Elvio Banchero (; 28 April 1904 – 21 January 1982) was an Italian footballer who played as a striker. He competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics with the Italy national football team, winning a bronze medal. Club career Banchero was born in Alessandria. He played for seven seasons (120 games, 48 goals) in the Italian Serie A for Genova 1893, A.S. Roma, A.S. Bari and U.S. Alessandria Calcio 1912. International career Banchero was a member of the Italy national team which won the bronze medal in the football tournament at the 1928 Summer Olympics. He scored a hat trick (3 goals) in the 11–3 victory against Egypt, that led to the Bronze medal. He also started in the first match of the 1931-32 Central European International Cup silver winning campaign. Felix Elvio Jiménez Rivera (born January 6, 1940) is a former professional baseball left fielder who appeared in one game for the New York Yankees in 1964. Career The , rookie was signed by the Yankees as an amateur free agent before the 1959 season. Jiménez made his major league debut on October 4, 1964, and was in the starting lineup at home against the Cleveland Indians for the last game of the season. The Yankees lost the game 2–1 in 13 innings, but Jiménez went 2-for-6 with base hits against Luis Tiant and Tommy John. Jiménez, along with Clarence Dow and Tom Pratt, are the only players to have six at-bats in their only MLB game. He also recorded five putouts with no errors during the game. Elvio Do Rosario van Overbeek (born 11 January 1994) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a winger for SteDoCo. Career Van Overbeek was born in Angola. He made his professional debut as Jong PSV player in the second division on 3 August 2013 against Sparta Rotterdam. He signed for Northern Irish club Glentoran on 6 August 2019. Elvio Romero (1926-2004) was a Paraguayan poet, active in the 1940s and 1950s. Early life Elvio Romero was born in Yegros, Paraguay in 1926. At a young age he became associated with fellow Paraguayan literary figures Hérib Campos Cervera, Josefina Plá, and Augusto Roa Bastos. Career A Communist militant, Romero was forced into exile in Argentina alongside many others after the end of Paraguayan Civil War in 1947, at the age of 20. His time in exile was a strong theme in Romero's subsequent work. He returned to Paraguay after General Alfredo Stroessner fell from power, and worked in numerous diplomatic posts, including the Paraguayan embassy in Buenos Aires. He also performed editorial work and gave recitals and conferences in various cultural centres around the Americas and Europe. Elvio Herbert Sadun (December 9, 1918 – April 23, 1974) was an Italian-American parasitologist. Educated at Harvard and Johns Hopkins University (ScD, zoology), he conducted most of his research as Chief of Medical Zoology at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (1959–1973). A prolific scientist, he wrote or edited 3 books and 313 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of immunology and tropical medicine, and is known for the first application of fluorescent antibody imaging in the diagnosis of parasitic diseases.
