Eleonore De Ahna
Eleonore de Ahna (8 January 1838 – 10 May 1865), occasionally also Leonore de Ahna, was a German operatic soprano/mezzo-soprano. Life Born in Vienna, Ahna was the daughter of a Bavarian first lieutenant, who later worked as a factory owner. Her mother was born Freiin von Odelga. Her brother was the violinist Heinrich de Ahna. Her niece, the singer Pauline de Ahna, married the composer Richard Strauss. Although Ahna had no plans to go to the theatre at first, the deterioration of her parents' financial circumstances forced her to turn to this profession. She received her vocal training from Eduard Mantius (1806–1874). She made her debut on 2 September 1859 at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin in the title role of Donizetti's opera ''Lucrezia Borgia'' and soon became popular with the public. August Weger
August Weger (28 July 1823 – 27 May 1892) was a German graphic artist, steel engraver and printer. Born in Nuremberg, Weger founded a graphic institute in Leipzig in 1840. Weger is still known today for his portraits of famous people such as Matthias Claudius, Friedrich Gerstäcker, Emil Scaria, Robert Schumann, Emil Devrient, Robert Blum and Ludwig Feuerbach. Don Juan (Strauss)
''Don Juan'', Opus number, Op. 20, is a tone poem in E major for large orchestra written by the German composer Richard Strauss in 1888. The work is based on ''Don Juans Ende'', a play derived from an unfinished 1844 retelling of the tale by poet Nikolaus Lenau after the Don Juan legend which originated in Renaissance-era Spain. Strauss reprinted three excerpts from the play in his score. In Lenau's rendering, Don Juan's promiscuity springs from his determination to find the ideal woman. Despairing of ever finding her, he ultimately surrenders to melancholy and wills his own death. It is singled out by Carl Dahlhaus as a "musical symbol of fin-de-siècle Modernism (music), modernism", particularly for the "breakaway mood" of its opening bars. Constantin Von Wurzbach
Constantin Wurzbach Ritter von Tannenberg (11 April 1818 – 17 August 1893) was an Austrian biographer, lexicographer and author. Biography He was born in Laibach, Carniola (present-day Ljubljana, Slovenia).He later went on to complete a course in philosophy and published poetry in local periodicals, inspired by the work of Nikolaus Lenau and Anastasius Grün. At the request of his father, he began studying jurisprudence at Graz, which he, however, abandoned after two years. Instead, he joined the Austrian army and served in a Galician infantry regiment at Cracow from 1837. As a cadet, he continued to publish poems under the pseudonym ''W. Constant''. In 1841 he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant (''Unterleutnant'') and transferred to Lemberg (Lviv). At the same time, he studied philosophy at the Lemberg University and in 1843 became the first active officer in the Austrian army to obtain a doctorate. The gens Julia (''gēns Iūlia'', ) was one of the most prominent patrician families in ancient Rome. Members of the gens attained the highest dignities of the state in the earliest times of the Republic. The first of the family to obtain the consulship was Gaius Julius Iulus in 489 BC.
