Edward W. Jacko
Edward Willis Jacko Jr. (April 16, 1916 – January 30, 1979) was an American civil rights attorney. He represented the Nation of Islam as a client. Biography Jacko graduated from Talladega College in 1938 and played football and was in Alpha Phi Alpha at the college. He applied to University of Arkansas Law School, the first African American applicant in the school's history, and went to Howard University School of Law. Charles Hamilton Houston was one of his law professors. Jacko graduated from Howard University's law school in 1942, he passed the New York Bar exam and went to work there as a lawyer before enlisting in the Army. Upon his return to civilian life he established a law office on 125th Street in New York City, he shared with civil rights lawyer Jawn Sandifer. Nation Of Islam
The Nation of Islam (NOI) is a religious and political organization founded in the United States by Wallace Fard Muhammad in 1930. A black nationalist organization, the NOI focuses its attention on the African diaspora, especially on African Americans. While it identifies itself as promoting a form of Islam, its beliefs differ considerably from mainstream Islamic traditions. Scholars of religion characterize it as a new religious movement. It operates as a centralized and hierarchical organization. The Nation teaches that there has been a succession of mortal gods, each a black man named Allah, of whom Fard Muhammad is the most recent. Muhammad Ali (; born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.; January 17, 1942 – June 3, 2016) was an American professional boxer and activist. Malcolm X
Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little, later Malik el-Shabazz; May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965) was an American Muslim minister and human rights activist who was a prominent figure during the civil rights movement. A spokesman for the Nation of Islam until 1964, he was a vocal advocate for Black empowerment and the promotion of Islam within the Black community. A posthumous autobiography, on which he collaborated with Alex Haley, was published in 1965. Malcolm spent his adolescence living in a series of foster homes or with relatives after his father's death and his mother's hospitalization.
