Edmondson is a town in Crittenden County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 427 at the 2010 census. Geography Edmondson is located in south-central Crittenden County at (35.103619, -90.308190). It is south of Interstate 40, which then leads east to West Memphis and east to downtown Memphis, Tennessee. According to the United States Census Bureau, Edmondson has a total area of , all land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 513 people, 174 households, and 140 families residing in the town. The population density was 60.9/km2 (157.7/mi2). There were 198 housing units at an average density of 23.5/km2 (60.9/mi2). Edmondson Village is a neighborhood in the southwestern section of Baltimore, Maryland, encompassing most of the Edmondson Avenue corridor in 21229. The Edmondson Village area is made up of several smaller communities. The Edmondson railway ticket was a system for recording the payment of railway fares and accounting for the revenue raised, introduced in the 1840s.Farr, M (1997). "Edmondson, Thomas". In: Simmonds and Biddle (1997), Page 141 It is named after its inventor, Thomas Edmondson, a trained cabinet maker, who became a station master on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway in England. He introduced his system on the Manchester and Leeds Railway. Previously, railway companies had used handwritten tickets, as was the practice for stagecoaches, but it was laborious for a ticket clerk to write out a ticket for each passenger and long queues were common at busy stations. A faster means of issuing pre-printed tickets was needed. It was discovered on 30 March 1952, by the Indiana Asteroid Program at Goethe Link Observatory, United States. It was named after astronomer Frank Edmondson.
