Ecologists Association
Ecologists Association (''Associazione Ecologisti'') was a small green and eco-socialist association in Italy. It was founded in November 2009 by those members of the Federation of the Greens who wanted to continue the experience of Left and Freedom (SL), a left-wing coalition that was abandoned by the Greens in October, and took part to the foundation of Left Ecology Freedom (SEL) as a united party. Green politics, or ecopolitics, is a political ideology that aims to foster an ecologically sustainable society often, but not always, rooted in environmentalism, nonviolence, social justice and grassroots democracy. Eco-socialism (also known as green socialism or socialist ecology) is an ideology merging aspects of socialism with that of green politics, ecology and alter-globalization or anti-globalization. Eco-socialists generally believe that the expansion of the capitalist system is the cause of social exclusion, poverty, war and environmental degradation through globalization and imperialism, under the supervision of repressive states and transnational structures. Loredana De Petris (born 24 November 1957) is an Italian politician and senator for four legislatures. Biography From Proletarian Democracy to the Greens De Petris began her political career in the 1980s joining Proletarian Democracy and has been active in the anti-nuclear and environmentalist movement, organizing the referendum against nuclear power, hunting and the use of pesticides in agriculture. At the 1987 elections she was a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies and obtained 4417 preferences without being elected. In 1989 was among the founders of the Federation of the Greens Lists and became a city councilor in Rome.
