Eagle Warehouse
The Eagle Warehouse & Storage Company, commonly referred to as the Eagle Warehouse, is a building located in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York. Designed by Brooklyn architect Frank Freeman and completed in 1894, it had a number of uses before being converted into apartments in 1980. Described as a "masterpiece", the building was designated a New York City landmark in 1977. It is a contributing building in the Fulton Ferry District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. History The site on which the Eagle Warehouse is located formerly belonged to the ''Brooklyn Eagle'', a well-known local newspaper. Richardsonian Romanesque
Richardsonian Romanesque is a style of Romanesque Revival architecture named after the American architect Henry Hobson Richardson (1838–1886). The revival style incorporates 11th and 12th century southern French, Spanish, and Italian Romanesque characteristics. Richardson first used elements of the style in his Richardson Olmsted Complex in Buffalo, New York, designed in 1870. Multiple architects followed in this style in the late 19th century; Richardsonian Romanesque later influenced modern styles of architecture as well. Eagle is the common name for many large birds of prey of the family Accipitridae. Eagles belong to several groups of genera, some of which are closely related. Most of the 68 species of eagle are from Eurasia and Africa. Outside this area, just 14 species can be found—2 in North America, 9 in Central and South America, and 3 in Australia.
