Eğiste (formerly: ''Bağbaşı'') is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Hadim, Konya Province, Turkey. Its population is 686 (2022). Hadim
Hadim is a municipality and district of Konya Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,165 km2, and its population is 10,999 (2022). Its elevation is . History The area now known as Hadim was settled by a tribe of Turkmen originating from Bukhara following the victory of the Seljuk Turks at the battle of Malazgirt. Hadim was well regarded in Ottoman times as a source for Islamic scholars and their training, this is reflected in the villages previous name, Belde-i Hadimül-ilm meaning place which serves the sciences. The scholars of Hadim fulfilled an important role in the Turkification of Anatolia. A notable scholar from Hadim was Seyyid Bayram Veli who founded the village of Dedemli in Hadim district. Bayram Veli was a dervish who had migrated from the region of Khorosan to avoid the incoming Mongol invasion. Atayurt
Atayurt is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Silifke, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 6,876 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography Atayurt is in the fertile alluvial plain of Silifke district. The town is on the D 400 highway. The distance to Mersin is and to Silifke is . History The rural population density of the vicinity has always been high and there were two villages (Olukbaşı and Esenbel) next to each other. In 1989, the two villages have been merged to form Atayurt town. In 2005, Karadedeli and Sıtmasuyu villages have been merged. The name of the town refers to Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish republic. Belde
Belde (literally "town", also known as ''kasaba'') means "large village with a municipality" in Turkish language, Turkish. All Turkish province centers and district centers have municipalities, but the Villages of Turkey, villages are usually too small to have municipalities. The population in some villages may exceed 2000 and in such villages a small municipality may be established depending on residents' choice. Such villages are called ''belde''. Up to 2014 the number of ''belde'' municipalities was about 1400. On 30 March 2014 by the act no. 6360 all villages (those with and without municipality) were included in the urban fabric of the district municipalities in 30 provinces. Thus ''belde'' municipalities in 30 provinces were abolished. The number of abolished ''belde'' municipalities is 1040. The Taurus Mountains ( Turkish: ''Toros Dağları'' or ''Toroslar,'' Greek'':'' Ταύρος) are a mountain complex in southern Turkey, separating the Mediterranean coastal region from the central Anatolian Plateau.
