The Eyre family refers to the descendants of George Eyre (American), George Eyre and Mary Smith Eyre who comprised a political and business dynasty prominent in the Northeastern United States from the Colonial history of the United States, colonial era to the early 20th century. George Eyre (American)
Vice admiral (Royal Navy), Vice-Admiral Sir George Eyre (23 April 1769 – 15 February 1839) was an officer of the Royal Navy who saw service during the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars, French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, eventually rising to the rank of Admiral (United Kingdom), Vice-Admiral of the Red. Eyre served with James King (Royal Navy officer), James King in the Caribbean during the American War of Independence, seeing action in a number of engagements. Jehu Eyre or Ayer (January 10, 1738 – July 23, 1781) was an American businessman, veteran of the French and Indian War and American Revolutionary War, and member of the influential Eyre family, which played a major role in the American Revolution and the early Republic. John Sergeant (politician)
John Sergeant (December 5, 1779 – November 23, 1852) was an American politician who represented Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives. He was the National Republican Party's vice presidential nominee in the 1832 presidential election, serving on a ticket with Senator Henry Clay. After graduating from Princeton University, Sergeant served in the Philadelphia government and won election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. As a member of the Federalist Party, he won election to the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1815 to 1823.
