Eydís Ásbjörnsdóttir
Eydís Ásbjörnsdóttir (born 22 June 1973) is an Icelandic politician and member of the Althing. A member of the Social Democratic Alliance, she has represented the Northeast constituency since November 2024. Eydís was born on 22 June 1973. She is from Eskifjörður. She completed her apprenticeship in hairdressing in 1998 and received a master's degree in hairdressing in 1999. She received a teaching qualification from the University of Akureyri (HA) in 2006. She started teaching at the in 1999. She became headmistress of the school in December 2022 after being appointed by Minister of Education and Children's Affairs Ásmundur Einar Daðason. She also runs a business. Eydís was elected to the municipal council in Fjarðabyggð at the 2010 municipal elections as a candidate for the Fjarðalistan party. Althing
The (; ), anglicised as Althingi or Althing, is the Parliamentary sovereignty, supreme Parliament, national parliament of Iceland. It is the oldest surviving parliament in the world. The Althing was founded in 930 at ('Thing (assembly), thing fields' or 'assembly fields'), about east of what later became the country's capital, Reykjavík. After Iceland's union with Norway in 1262, the Althing lost its legislative power, which was not restored until 1904 when Iceland gained home rule from Denmark. For 641 years, the Althing did not serve as the parliament of Iceland; ultimate power rested with the Norwegian, and subsequently the Danish throne. 2010 Icelandic Municipal Elections
The Icelandic municipal elections of 2010 were held on 29 May in that year to elect the municipal councils of Iceland. Results Reykjavík A new political party called The Best Party (Besti flokkurinn) won the most seats on the council, defeating the established parties. Campaign The Best Party led in the polls in the run up to the election with one survey showing they could win a majority on their own. Among the policies in the party's "best manifesto" were plans for a polar bear for the city's zoo, a Disneyland at Reykjavík Airport, palm trees on the waterfront and free towels at swimming pools. 2024 Icelandic Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Iceland on 30 November 2024 to elect the 63 members of the Althing. The centre-left Social Democratic Alliance, led by Kristrún Frostadóttir, outperformed the ruling Independence Party to win the most seats, at 15. The election saw the worst performance by the Independence Party, Progressive Party, the Left-Green Movement, and the Pirate Party in each of the parties' histories, while Viðreisn, the People's Party, and the Centre Party saw their best performance in each of the parties' histories. This follows a trend of Icelanders voting against every post– 2008 recession government except during the 2021 election. Logi Már Einarsson (born 21 August 1964) is an Icelandic politician and architect. Early life and education Logi grew up in Akureyri and took stúdentspróf from Menntaskólinn á Akureyri in 1985. He studied architecture at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design 1986– 92 and graduated as a civil architect (Master of Architecture). Professional life Following graduation Logi returned to Akureyri, where he worked as a landscape designer at H.J. teiknistofa 1992–94 and for the technical and zoning office at Akureyri municipality 1994–96, before switching back to the private sector where he worked for Form 1996-1997, Úti og Inni 1997–2003 and Arkitektúr.is 2003–2004.
