Expresso Da Vitória
The ''Expresso da Vitória'' (English language, English: Victory Express) is known as one of the best association football squads in the history of CR Vasco da Gama and played between 1944 and 1953. The name would have appeared in a musical show of Rádio Nacional, where a singer, when performing, said that he would dedicate the music to Vasco, called by him "''Expresso da Vitória''", for running over his opponents on the pitch. This generation of players, was mainly commanded by the Uruguayan coach Ondino Viera and was one of the first Brazilian team to use the 4-2-4 (association football), 4–2–4 tactical scheme, which strongly influenced Brazilian and Uruguayan football in the 50s. The Vasco squad was also the first Brazilian team (either club or national team) to win an international title outside Brazil, the South American Championship of Champions in 1948. Ademir De Menezes
Ademir Marques de Menezes (; 8 November 1922 – 11 May 1996) was a Brazilian footballer, regarded as one of the best forwards in the country's history. His prominent underbite earned him the nickname (The Jaw). He was also the top goalscorer of the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Club career Ademir began his club career with Sport Recife before moving to Vasco da Gama. He played for Vasco for two spells, 1942–1945 and 1948–56, broken by a spell at Fluminense. Manuel Marinho Alves, best known as ''Maneca'' (January 28, 1926 – July 14, 1961), was an association footballer in striker role. He was born in Salvador Bahia, Brazil. During his career (1943–1957) he played for Galícia, Vitória, Vasco da Gama and Bangu. He won four Rio de Janeiro State Championships (1947, 1949, 1950 and 1952) and the South American Club Championship of 1948. For Brazilian team he participated in the 1950 FIFA World Cup, playing four games and scoring one goal. The Taça da Prefeitura do Distrito Federal (''Cup of the Prefecture of the Federal District''), commonly also Torneio Municipal do Rio de Janeiro (''Municipal Tournament of Rio de Janeiro''), was a tournament for clubs of the then capital of Brazil Rio de Janeiro which was held for the first time in 1938 and which took place annually from 1943 to 1948. Francisco Aramburu, or ''Chico'' (7 January 1922 – 1 October 1997) was a Brazilian footballer who played as a striker. Ely do Amparo (14 May 1921 – 9 March 1991), commonly known as just Ely, was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He played for Brazil in two World Cups. Career Ely do Amparo started his career with América in 1939. He joined Canto do Rio in 1940, leaving the club in 1945 to join Vasco. Ely, as part of Vasco's ''Expresso da Vitória'' squad, won the Campeonato Carioca in 1945, 1947, 1949, 1950 and in 1952, winning the South American Club Championship in 1948 as well.
