Exchange Hotel (Balmain)
The Exchange Hotel is a heritage-listed pub located in Balmain, a suburb in the inner west region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. History The Exchange Hotel was the last pub to be built during the local boom of the 1880s. It was also the largest in the Balmain and Rozelle area. The original building consisted of 40 rooms connected with corridors. The pub became a major meeting point for the local community and in the early years as the centre for union members, including those of the Balmain Labourers Union which later went on to become the Painters and Dockers Union. The building is a three-storey structure constructed in the Victorian Free Classical style. It has rendered masonry and a verandah with iron lace and timber lattice decorations to the middle level with timber posts to footpath. The original construction had an additional upper verandah which has since been removed. All of the balcony, column and railings were produced at the nearby Annan ...

Exchange Hotel, Laidley
Exchange Hotel is a heritage-listed hotel at 134–138 Patrick Street, Laidley, Lockyer Valley Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Eaton & Bates and built in 1902. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History The Exchange Hotel at Laidley, a two-storeyed brick building, was constructed in 1902 for publicans Julius and Hansine Jocumsen, and replaced an earlier hotel of the same name on the site. It was erected during one of the most significant growth periods in Laidley's history, and although modest in size and scale, reflects in style and materials the confidence and optimism of a small, prosperous, turn-of-the-century country town. Laidley was established in the 1850s as a transport stop along the main dray route from Brisbane and Ipswich to Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, and following the late 1850s subdivision of the Lockyer Creek floodplains, developed as the centre of a small agricultural district. A village of Laidley, ...

It was also known as Daintree Inn. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 9 November 2012. History The Exchange Hotel is the second timber hotel to stand on the prominent site at the corner of Front and Mill streets in Mossman, a sugar town located about north of Cairns. Built in 1934–35 to replace the first Exchange Hotel (), which was badly damaged in a March 1934 cyclone, the second Exchange Hotel was designed to appeal to a tourist clientele. Tourism to the district increased after the opening of the Cook Highway in 1933, with road trips to Mossman and the town of Daintree among the local attractions promoted to visitors to far north Queensland. Mossman lies inland from Port Douglas, on the flood-plain of the Mossman River between the Great Dividing Range and the coast. Ced ...

Exchange Hotel, Montgomery
The Exchange Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama, United States, was a luxury hotel, first built in 1846 and finished in 1847. The hotel burned down in 1904 and was rebuilt in 1906; its second incarnation was demolished in the 1970s. The hotel was a hotbed of politics; during the American Civil War it housed, for a while, the Confederate government, and throughout the 20th century it was the place where politicians and business men met to make deals. Among the early owners were "Messrs. St. Lanier & Son"; Sterling Lanier was the grandfather of Sidney Lanier and his brother Clifford, who both worked at the hotel as clerks. After the Civil War, Clifford managed and co-owned the hotel. History The hotel was started by a group of local businessmen who had the company of Robinson and Bardwell build it (they were also responsible for the Alabama State Capitol), with architect Samuel Holt, on the corner of Montgomery and Commerce Streets. The work started in 1846 and was finished in the fa ...

Exchange Hotel (San Diego, California)
The Exchange Hotel, also called Franklin House, is a historical building in San Diego, California, built-in 1851 by George P. Tebbetts and his partner Philip Hooff. It is first mentioned in the May 29 1851 issue of the ''San Diego Herald'' where the "Exchange Hotel and Billiard Saloon" is advertised to carry "the choicest wines, liquors, segars... (sic)." This group began Freemasons San Diego Lodge No. 35, F. & A.M., the oldest lodge in Southern California. Lewis Franklin, cousin of Selim Franklin who had built the Franklin House in San Francisco, had come to San Diego by 1851. On July 19, 1855 he bought the hotel. In November of that year it was renamed Franklin House. Its ground floor was brick, fronted by a verandah that rose the entirety of the building's three stories. By 1858, the hotel had moved into the hands of Joseph Reiner, who renewed the bedding ...
