Ewa Bąkowska
Ewa Bąkowska (2 August 1962 – 10 April 2010) was a Polish librarian, activist and representative of the Katyn Families. She died in the 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash near Smolensk on 10 April 2010. She is buried in the Salwator Cemetery. She was posthumously awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta. 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 Crash
On 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft operating Polish Air Force Flight 101 crashed near the Russian city of Smolensk, killing List of casualties of the Smolensk air disaster, all 96 people on board. Among the victims were the president of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, and his wife, Maria Kaczyńska, Maria; the former Polish government-in-exile, president of Poland-in-exile, Ryszard Kaczorowski; the chief of the Polish General Staff and other senior Polish military officers; the president of the National Bank of Poland; Polish government officials; 18 members of the Polish parliament; senior members of the Polish clergy; and relatives of victims of the Katyn massacre. The group was arriving from Warsaw to attend an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the massacre, which took place not far from Smolensk. Salwator Cemetery
Salwator Cemetery (), is a historic cemetery in the Salwator neighborhood of Kraków located west of the city centre. It was consecrated in 1865. History The Salwator Cemetery is also known as the Zwierzyniecki Cemetery for its location in the Zwierzyniec District of Kraków, next to widely popular Kościuszko Mound. It is perceived by the locals as the nicest cemetery in the city. However, the Salwator Cemetery does not feature in the official list of heritage sites and does not receive financial support from the council. The graves and the cemetery grounds are maintained by the Parish of St. Salwador in Kraków with the help from volunteer parishioners.
