Evoğlu, Agdam
Evoğlu () is a village in the Agdam District of Azerbaijan. The village forms part of the municipality of Qaradağlı. Etymology The name comes from the Yiva tribe and the word "oglu" (descendant). In Russian, it translates as "descendants of the Yiva tribe." History The first mentions of the village date back to the early 19th century. In 1913, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Elizavetpol province, the village of Evoghlu was part of the Zangishali rural community in Shusha district. According to the results of the 1921 Azerbaijani agricultural census, the village of Evoghlu was part of the Garakhanli rural community in Shusha district, Azerbaijan SSR. The population was 307 people (67 households), with the predominant ethnicity being Azerbaijani Turks (Azerbaijanis). Aghdam District () is one of the 66 administrative divisions of Azerbaijan. It is located in the west of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Khojaly, Kalbajar, Tartar, Khojavend, Aghjabadi, and Barda. Its capital is de jure Aghdam, though the current '' de facto'' capital is Quzanlı. As of 2020, the district had a nominal population of 204,000. Most of the territory of the district was under the occupation of Armenian forces following the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in the early 1990s. Yiwa (tribe)
Yiwa (, , ) was one of the 24 ancient Oghuz ( Turkoman) tribes. The Yiwa tribe belonged to the tribe of Dengiz Khan, the youngest son of Oghuz Khagan. Part of the Yiwa, led by Suleyman Shah, moved from Central Asia to Western Iran and the upper reaches of Tigris and Euphrates in the 13th century. The capital of Suleyman Shah became the city of Bahar (near Hamadan). Suleyman Shah led the defense of Baghdad against the Mongols of Hulagu and was defeated. Elizavetpol Governorate
The Elizavetpol Governorate, also known after 1918 as the Ganja Governorate, was a province ('' guberniya'') of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire, with its capital in Yelisavetpol (present-day Ganja). Shusha District
Shusha District () is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the west of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region.
