Eva Spångberg
Eva Margareta Spångberg (2 April 1923 – 8 November 2011) was a Swedish sculptor. She made a large number of wooden sculptures for Swedish churches, and was born in Östhammar Municipality. Her family was not particularly religious, but she started attending church on her own from an early age. After graduating from school she wanted to study medicine but her grades were insufficient, and she instead entered a school to become a nurse. However she contracted polio during her studies and consequently was forced to abandon them. At that time she had already started to practice woodworking and was making sculptures at home. She received a stipend to study wood sculpting in Oberammergau in Germany for a year. When she returned to Sweden, she received her first commission from the Church of Sweden, to make a crucifix for a church, , in Gothenburg. Sävsjö Municipality
Sävsjö Municipality () is a municipality in Jönköping County, southern Sweden where the town Sävsjö is seat. The municipality was created by the local government reform of 1971, when the ''City of Sävsjö'' (instituted as late as 1947) was amalgamated with parts of two adjacent rural municipalities. Two years later it was completed when ''Hjälmseryd'' was added. Geography The municipality is located on the South Swedish highlands and comprise the old Västra Härad. It is considered a scenic place because the forests are not as dense as in the rest of Småland and the terrain is more varied. In Christian art, a Madonna () is a religious depiction of the Blessed Virgin Mary in a singular form or sometimes accompanied by the Child Jesus. These images are central icons for both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Church, Orthodox churches. The word is (archaic). Växjö Cathedral
Växjö Cathedral () is a cathedral in Växjö, Sweden. It is the seat of the Diocese of Växjö, Bishop of Växjö within the Church of Sweden. According to legend, the cathedral was founded by Sigfrid of Sweden, Saint Sigfrid of Sweden. The first stone church on the site, parts of which are incorporated into the current cathedral, was built in the 1160s. The cathedral has been much altered over time, and its appearance today is largely the result of a far-reaching restoration carried out in the 1950s under the guidance of architect Kurt von Schmalensee. Storkyrkan
Storkyrkan (, ), also called Stockholms domkyrka (Stockholm Cathedral) and Sankt Nikolai kyrka (Church of Saint Nicholas), is the oldest church in Stockholm. Storkyrkan lies in the centre of Stockholm in Gamla stan, between Stockholm Palace and Stortorget, the old main square of Stockholm. It was consecrated to Saint Nicholas in 1306 but construction of the church probably started in the 13th century. Inside, Storkyrkan still maintains much of its late medieval appearance in the form of a hall church with a vaulted ceiling supported by brick pillars. Östhammar Municipality
Östhammar Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Uppsala County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city status in Sweden, city of Östhammar. The present municipality was created during the local government reform in the late sixties and early seventies. Already in 1967 the City of Öregrund joined the City of Östhammar in a common municipality. It was the first time a former city joined another local government unit. By 1971 the new combined city became a municipality of unitary type and in 1974 more units were added. In June 2018 the municipal council voted in favour of the building of Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant#Waste disposal, Forsmark nuclear waste repository, with the final decision needing to be made by the Swedish government.
