Euryomma (fly)
''Euryomma'' is a genus of species of fly, flies of the Family (biology), family Fanniidae. The genus was originally proposed by the entomologist Paul Stein (entomologist), Paul Stein in 1899. Although at that time most authorities placed them in the family Muscidae. The distribution of ''Euryomma'' is mainly Neotropical, on the whole restricted to the Americas, there is also one Nearctic species, the exception being of the very cosmopolitan ''Euryomma peregrinum, E. peregrinum'' (Johann Wilhelm Meigen, Meigen, 1826) Description With bare Arista (insect anatomy), arista (as in ''Fannia (fly), Fannia''), with the first pre-sutural Chaetotaxy, dorsocentral bristle less than half as long as second. Males have a lower orbital bristle. Paul Stein (entomologist)
Paul Stein (1852–1921) was a German museum curator and entomologist. He specialised in Diptera especially the family Anthomyiidae. In this group he studied the world fauna describing many new genera and species. Stein worked with Theodor Becker, Mario Bezzi and Kálmán Kertész on ''Katalog der Paläarktischen dipteren'' (1903 onwards) published in Budapest from 1903.
