Eurovision Song Contest 1995
The Eurovision Song Contest 1995 was the 40th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 13 May 1995 at the Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ), and presented by Mary Kennedy, the contest was held in Ireland following the country's victory at the with the song "Rock 'n' Roll Kids" by Paul Harrington (musician), Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan. It was the third consecutive contest to be held in Ireland – the first and only time in the history of the event that a country has hosted three editions in a row – and the second consecutive edition to be held in the Point Theatre in Dublin. Mary Kennedy
Mary Kennedy (; born 4 October 1954) is an Irish television personality and former newscaster, and writer. She presented the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 from the Point Theatre in Dublin. She has also presented her own Saturday night chat show called ''Kennedy (talk show), Kennedy'', a precursor to ''Saturday Night with Miriam''. Kennedy was co-presenter of the magazine programme ''Open House (Ireland), Open House'' with Marty Whelan. She has previously presented ''Up for the Match'' and the People of the Year Awards. She was co-presenter of ''Nationwide (Irish TV series), Nationwide'' with Anne Cassin until 2019, having been so for a time with Michael Ryan (broadcaster), Michael Ryan. Dublin Port () is the seaport of Dublin, Ireland, of both historical and contemporary economic importance. Approximately two-thirds of Ireland's port traffic travels via the port, which is by far the busiest on the island of Ireland. Austria was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 with the song "Hurricane", composed by Peter Vieweger, with lyrics by Heli Deinboek and Heinz Nessizius, and performed by Westend. Alexandros Panayi (, also known as Alex Panayi, born 24 June 1970), is a Greek-Cypriot singer, composer, lyricist, producer, vocal coach, and vocal arranger. He is best known for having represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 and 2000. Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with the song "", written by Timur Selçuk, and performed by Pan. The Turkish participating broadcaster, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), selected its entry through a national final.
