The Confederal Group of the European United Left was a socialist and communist political group with seats in the European Parliament between 1994 and 1995. History The Confederal Group of the European United Left was formed on 19 July 1994. It consisted of MEPs from the United Left of Spain (including the Spanish Communist Party), the Greek Synaspismós, the French Communist Party, the Portuguese Communist Party, the Communist Party of Greece, and the Communist Refoundation Party of Italy. In 1995, the enlargement of the European Union led to the creation of the Nordic Green Left. It consisted of MEPs from the Finnish Left Alliance, the Swedish Left Party and the Danish Socialist People's Party. The Group for the European United Left was a left-wing political group with seats in the European Parliament between 1989 and 1993. History The Group for the European United Left (EUL) was formed on 25 July 1989. It consisted of MEPs from the Danish Socialist People's Party, the Italian Communist Party, the United Left of Spain (including the Spanish Communist Party) and the Greek Synaspismós. It was later joined by the Democratic Left of Ireland's sole MEP. Nordic Green Left Alliance
The Nordic Green Left Alliance (; ; ; ; ; NGLA) is a left-wing party group in the Nordic Council, founded in Reykjavík, Iceland, on 1 February 2004. Initially founded by five parties representing Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, in 2009 two other parties from Greenland and the Faroe Islands joined the NGLA.
