European Union Force
The European Union (EU) has undertaken a number of overseas missions and operations, drawing on civilian and military capabilities, in several countries across three continents (Europe, Africa and Asia), as part of its Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The operation or mission in question will work in agreement and coordination with the EU delegations, until 2009 known as the ''European Security and Defence Policy'' (ESDP). Classification In the EU terminology, civilian CSDP interventions are called 'missions', regardless of whether they have an executive mandate such as EULEX Kosovo or a non-executive mandate (all others). Civilian missions include uniformed personnel such as Police and Gendarmerie, but not military personnel. The European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (, EUMAM Ukraine) is the European Union's (EU) first military assistance mission for Ukraine set up on 17 October 2022. Operation Irini
The European Union Naval Force Mediterranean Operation Irini (EUNAVFOR MED IRINI) was launched on 31 March 2020 with the primary mission to enforce the United Nations arms embargo on Libya due to the Second Libyan Civil War. Operation Irini is a European Union military operation under the umbrella of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP). The operation is expected to use aerial, maritime and satellite assets. In September 2020, the Irini operation stated that within six months, the operation sent 14 special reports to UN Panel of Experts concerning from both sides of the conflict in Libya, performed 12 visits on collaborative merchant vessels and monitored 10 ports and landing points, 25 airports and landing strips. EUAM Iraq
The European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) was established by the European Union Member States in 2017 following a request by the Government of Iraq to support its national Security Sector Reform (SSR) efforts. The Mission is providing strategic advice and expertise to the Iraqi authorities through its advisers in thematic areas like command, control and crisis management, countering terrorism and organised crime, border management, human rights and gender, cultural heritage protection.
