The 2024 European Parliament election was held in the European Union (EU) between 6 and 9 June 2024. It was the tenth Elections to the European Parliament, parliamentary election since the 1979 European Parliament election, first direct elections in 1979, and the first European Parliament election after Brexit. A total of 720 Member of the European Parliament, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) were elected to represent more than 450 million people from 27 Member state of the European Union, member states. This election also coincided with a number of #Concurrent elections, other elections in some European Union member states. The European People's Party led by Ursula von der Leyen won the most seats in the European Parliament. European Democratic Party
The European Democratic Party (EDP; French: ''Parti démocrate européen'', PDE), also known as the European Democrats, is a centrist European political party in favour of European integration. Within the European Parliament, its MEPs form the Renew Europe group, together with those of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe party and the French Renaissance party. European People's Party
The European People's Party (EPP) is a European political party with Christian democracy, Christian democratic, liberal conservatism, liberal-conservative, and conservative member parties. A transnational organisation, it is composed of other political parties. 2024 EP Election Map
4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Evolution of the Hindu-Arabic digit Brahmic numerals represented 1, 2, and 3 with as many lines. 4 was simplified by joining its four lines into a cross that looks like the modern plus sign. Walter Baier
Walter Baier (born 9 February 1954) is an Austrian politician for the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ). He was his party's federal president from 1994 to 2006. He is the leader of the Party of the European Left since December 2022 and was the party's lead candidate for the European Commission in the 2024 European Parliament election, 2024 election. Bas Eickhout (born 8 October 1976) is a Dutch politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since the 2009 elections. He is a member of the GreenLeft, part of the European Green Party. Education and early career Eickhout was born in 1976 in Groesbeek, Gelderland, and he attended high school at the Cobbenhagen College in Tilburg. Between 1994 and 2000, he studied chemistry and environmental science at Radboud University in Nijmegen.
