Eugène Desrochers
Eugène Desrochers (15 October 1885 – 25 November 1958) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Sainte-Agathe, Quebec and became a merchant and trader. From 1919 to 1922, he was mayor of Saint-Didace, Quebec. The son of Romuald Desrochers and Lèda Marcotte, he was educated at the Séminaire de Trois-Rivières and entered business at Saint-Didace, Quebec. In 1905, Desrochers married Régina Boivin. He was elected to Parliament at the Maskinongé riding in the 1921 general election. Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts
Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts () is a town in the province of Quebec, Canada, in the regional county municipality of Les Laurentides in the administrative region of Laurentides, also known as the "Laurentians" or the Laurentian Mountains (in English). Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts borders on a lake called Lac des Sables, and is located approximately northwest of Montreal, and northeast of Ottawa. The town has been twinned with Lagny-sur-Marne, France, since 1969 and Saranac Lake, New York, since 2002. History Settlement In 1849, the first families arrived on the northern fringe of the area, which was a settlement established by Augustin-Norbert Morin. 1925 Canadian Federal Election
The 1925 Canadian federal election was held on October 29, 1925, to elect members of the House of Commons of Canada of the 15th Parliament of Canada. The Conservative party took the most seats in the House of Commons, although not a majority. Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King's Liberal Party was invited to form a minority government. Unlike the Conservative party, King's Liberals had the conditional support of the many Farmer/Progressive MPs. The government fell the following year. Governor General Baron Byng of Vimy offered the Conservatives under Meighen a chance to form government. This too fell in short order. Byng's action in refusing King's request became the main issue of the 1926 election under the name " King–Byng Affair".
