Eugene McEntee (born 1978 in Portumna, County Galway, Ireland) is an Irish former sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Portumna and was a member of the Galway senior inter-county team in 2009. Ballinasloe
Ballinasloe ( ; ) is a town in the easternmost part of County Galway, Ireland. Located at an ancient crossing point on the River Suck, evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a number of Bronze Age sites. Built around a 12th-century castle, which defended the Ford (crossing), fording point, the modern town of Ballinasloe was "founded" in the early 13th century. As of the 2022 census of Ireland, 2022 census, it was one of the largest towns in County Galway, with a population of 6,597 people. History The town developed as a crossing point on the River Suck, a tributary of the River Shannon, Shannon. The Irish placename – meaning the 'mouth of the ford of the crowds' – reflects this purpose. The patron saint of Ballinasloe is Grellan, Saint Grellan, who tradition believes built the first church in the area.
