Estadio Domingo Burgueño is a multi-use stadium in Maldonado, Uruguay. It is used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 22,000 people and was built in 1994. It hosted games during the 1995 Copa América, 1999 South American Under-17 Football Championship and 2003 South American Youth Championship, as well as the Punta Del Este Sevens rugby tournament from 1989 to 2014 and later since 2017. It is home of Deportivo Maldonado in the Uruguayan Primera División. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, also known as Copa Sudamericana (; ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL, the governing body of football in South America, since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. The 2023 Copa Sudamericana final was the final match which decided the winner of the 2023 Copa Sudamericana. This was the 22nd edition of the Copa Sudamericana, the second-tier South American continental club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The match was played on 28 October 2023 between Brazilian club Fortaleza and Ecuadorian club LDU Quito, and it was originally scheduled to be played at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay, but on 15 September 2023, Estadio Domingo Burgueño in Maldonado was confirmed as the venue for the final. LDU Quito were the champions, winning their second title in the competition after defeating Fortaleza 4–3 on penalties following a 1–1 draw after extra time in the final. The Copa Sudamericana is an annual association football tournament established in 2002. The competition is organized by the South American Football Confederation, or CONMEBOL, and it is contested by 39 clubs from its member association.
