Essex Women Cricket Team
The Essex women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Essex. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Toby Howe Cricket Ground, Billericay and Garon Park, Southend-on-Sea. They are captained by Grace Scrivens. In 2019, they played in Division Two of the final season of the Women's County Championship, and have since played in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Sunrisers. History 1949–2000: Early history Essex Women played their first recorded match in 1949, against Buckinghamshire Women. Madeleine Elisabeth Blinkhorn-Jones (born 20 April 2003) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Essex Women cricket team, Essex. She plays as a right-handed Batting (cricket), batter. Domestic career Blinkhorn-Jones first played for the Surrey Women cricket team, Surrey senior side in 2020, against Kent Women cricket team, Kent in the Women's London Championship. She went on to play two matches for Surrey in the 2021 Women's Twenty20 Cup, without batting. She also appeared for Surrey in their victorious 2021 Women's London Championship campaign, and was the second-highest run-scorer across the competition, with 138 runs including a high score of 62. The 2024 ECB Women's County One-Day was an English women's cricket 50-over domestic competition. It took place between April and July 2024, with 34 teams taking part, organised into four regional groups. It was the first nationally-organised 50-over women's county competition since the 2019 Women's County Championship, and ran alongside the Women's Twenty20 Cup. There was no overall winner, with Lancashire, Leicestershire and Rutland, Devon and Sussex winning their individual groups. The Suffolk Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Suffolk. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Wamil Way, Mildenhall and Woolpit CC, Woolpit. They are captained by Natalie Samuels. In 2019, they played in Division Three of the final season of the Women's County Championship, and have since competed in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Sunrisers. History Suffolk Women joined the county system in 2007, competing in the County Challenge Cup, the lower tier of the Women's County Championship, in which they lost all three of their games. Women's London Championship
The Women's London Championship (WLC) is an English women's cricket competition. It was created in 2020 following the introduction of the regional Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy as the highest domestic competition in women's One Day cricket. The competition features the women's county cricket teams from the Home Counties. History Originally the Women's County Championship was the highest 50 over competition in English women's cricket. However, the tournament ended in 2019 to make way for a regionalised 50-over tournament and The Hundred.
