España F.C. (full name: Atlético España Fútbol Club), and originally known as Club Deportivo 33 (C.D. 33), was a professional association football club located in San Salvador, El Salvador. España F.C. played their home matches at the Estadio Nacional Flor Blanca. History Club Deportivo 33 was founded on 25 February 1933 by the Civilian Police force. During the 1930s, Club Deportivo 33 competed in the central zone football tournament that was held by the Salvadoran Sports Commission. They won two national tournament finals in 1937 (3–1 vs. C.D. Alacranes) and in 1938 (10–3 vs. C.D. Maya). In 1939, C.D. 33 won the central zone in El Salvador. Since there was no official national tournament held that year, this central region zone title was considered a national title. The Primera División de Fútbol Profesional de El Salvador (First Division of Professional Football of El Salvador), more commonly known as La Liga Mayor or La Primera, also known as Liga Pepsi for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football, football league in El Salvador. It was established in 1947, and in 2011 had 10 clubs. Initially the league was run as a year-long tournament, but since 1998 there are two tournaments each year, much like in many other football leagues in the Americas. Salvadoran Football Federation
The Salvadoran Football Federation ( or ) is the official governing football organization in El Salvador and is in charge of the El Salvador national football team, and El Salvador national beach soccer team. The federation is also in charge of the three tiers of domestic club competition, including the top-flight Primera División de Fútbol Profesional. In May 2010, FIFA briefly suspended teams and associated members from international competition on the grounds that the Salvadoran government had not acknowledged the authority of the Normalisation Committee set up to represent FESFUT. On May 28, the suspension was lifted. In November 2010 the federation started the first women's football league in El Salvador. In September 2013, the federation imposed a life-time ban on 14 members of the country's national team for match-fixing and another three players were banned for between six and 18 months.
