Chauncey Eskridge
Chauncey Eskridge (November 11, 1917 – January 18, 1988) was an American attorney and judge. He provided legal counseling for activist Martin Luther King Jr., one of the leaders of the civil rights movement. He served on the legal team of world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali, and argued the '' Clay v. United States'' case in which the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Ali's conviction for refusing to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Eskridge was also a U.S. Army Air Force officer and combat fighter pilot with the 332nd Fighter Group's 99th Fighter Squadron, best known as the Tuskegee Airmen, "Red Tails," or “Schwartze Vogelmenschen” ("Black Birdmen") among enemy German pilots. Durell Eskridge (born December 17, 1991) is an American former professional football safety. He played college football at Syracuse University. Eskridge signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Early life Eskridge attended Miami Central High School where he helped the football team to the 2010 6A State Championship with a record of 12–1. He was ranked second among the national rankings for both wide receiver and safety in his senior season. D'Wayne "Dee" Eskridge (born March 23, 1997) is an American professional football wide receiver and kick returner for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Western Michigan Broncos. Early life Eskridge was born and initially grew up in Winona, Mississippi, before his family moved to Bluffton, Indiana, while he was in grade school. John Wallace Eskridge (January 21, 1924 – February 11, 2013) was an American professional basketball player. He spent one season in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) as a member of the Chicago Stags and the Indianapolis Jets (1948–49). He recruited Hall of Fame basketball player Wilt Chamberlain to the University of Kansas, and designed the "star" logo of the Dallas Cowboys professional football team in the NFL. Biography He was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, to Ella May Moore and Joshua Hargus Eskridge. Eskridge moved with his family to Pasadena, California as a child. He studied at the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles College of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and with George Senseney and André Lhote in Paris. After traveling extensively in Spain and the South Seas, he lived in Chicago, New York, and Coronado Beach, California (1917–32). He moved to Honolulu in 1932 and taught at the University of Hawaii. Eskridge is a city in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, Wabaunsee County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population of the city was 439. History Eskridge was laid out in 1868. The town experienced growth in 1880 when the railroad was built through it. Eskridge is named for Charles V.
