Esko Emil Töyri (until 1935 Törnroos; 6 October 1915 – 4 November 1992) was a Finnish film cinematographer and director. During his career, he won three Jussi Awards for best cinematography; in 1949 for films ''Vain kaksi tuntia'' and ''Hornankoski'', in 1950 for films ''Katupeilin takana'', ''Rosvo Roope'' and ''Hallin Janne'', and in 1953 for ''Noita palaa elämään''. Jussi Awards
The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. Because of the controversy surrounding the transfer, no awards were handed out in 1960 and 1961. Kultainen vasikka (''The Golden Calf'') is a 1961 Finnish comedy film directed by Ritva Arvelo in her only feature film direction. Based on the play of the same name by Maria Jotuni, the film combines elements of comedy and melodrama. Arvelo had previously directed the play in the theater. Plot Set during the time of the First World War in Porvoo, the film follows a group of characters whose lives are driven by greed and the dream of quick wealth. ''The Stars Will Tell, Inspector Palmu'' (Finnish: ''Tähdet kertovat, komisario Palmu'') is a 1962 Finnish comedy film, comedy-crime film directed by Matti Kassila. It is the third film in the ''Inspector Palmu'' series and the second one produced by Fennada-Filmi. The novel was written by Mika Waltari, Waltari through the explicit request by director Kassila.
