Esbjörn Svensson
Bror Fredrik "Esbjörn" Svensson (16 April 1964 – 14 June 2008) was a Swedish jazz pianist and founder of the jazz group Esbjörn Svensson Trio, commonly known as e.s.t. Svensson became one of Europe's most successful jazz musicians at the turn of the 21st century before his death, at the age of 44, in a scuba diving accident. Early life and work Svensson was introduced to both classical music and jazz very early in life through his mother, a classical pianist, and his father, a jazz enthusiast, and first showed interest in classical music. In his teenage years, he developed an interest in rock music and started a few garage bands with classmates, before going back to classical music and finally making his way towards jazz. At the age of 16, Svensson went to a music college, where he took piano lessons. He later studied at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, for four years. ''301'' is the last album recorded by Esbjörn Svensson Trio, released on 30 March 2012. The album is their second released posthumously, after ''Leucocyte'', as the pianist Esbjörn Svensson died in June 2008. It was recorded during the same sessions of the recording of ''Leucocyte'', whilst the Swedish trio were touring around Asia and Australia. The disc is named after Studios 301 Studios 301 is an Australian recording studio and is both the longest-running professional recording studio in the southern hemisphere and the largest studio complex in Australia. Dragon Records
Dragon Records is a Swedish record company and label established in 1975 by journalist Lars Westin (born 1948) and pianist Jan Wallgren (1935-1996). It concentrates on Swedish jazz. As of 2002, the company was run by Westin. Dragon has issued several hundred albums by Swedish jazz musicians, both historic and contemporary recordings, and aural documentation of visits to Sweden by American musicians, among others including Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Thelonious Monk and Lee Konitz. The label has issued a series of CDs by Lars Gullin featuring much of his recordings from the 1950s (at present, January 2018, eleven volumes have been released). It also released a four-CD set of visits by Miles Davis with John Coltrane and Sonny Stitt in 1960 and 1961. The Karolinska University Hospital () is a teaching hospital affiliated with Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, with two major sites in the municipalities of Solna and Huddinge. Ingarö
Ingarö is an island in Värmdö Municipality, Stockholm County. The chief settlement is called Brunn. With an area of 63.26 km2, it is the 16th biggest island in Sweden. Petroglyphs indicate that the island has been inhabited since the Nordic Bronze Age. For most of the 20th century the resident population decreased, while at the same time many vacation homes were built. However, in recent years population has grown as new homes are being built and vacation homes are being converted into permanent homes. Lina Nyberg
Lina Nyberg (born 27 February 1970) is a Swedish jazz singer and composer. She has composed works for string quartet, big band, and symphony orchestra. She is married to the Swedish jazz clarinettist and saxophonist Fredrik Ljungkvist. Career In 1990 Nyberg put together her own band, the Lina Nyberg Quintet, comprising Per "Texas" Johansson, Esbjörn Svensson, Dan Berglund, and Mikel Ulfberg. After her graduation at the Stockholm Royal College of Music as a Master of Fine Arts in 1993, Nyberg released her debut solo album ''Close'' (1993), a duo recording with late pianist Esbjörn Svensson from the well known Swedish trio EST, and it became an instant success and Swedish jazz classic.
