Erzsébet Schmuck
Erzsébet Schmuck (born 19 February 1954) is a Hungarian environmentalist, economist and politician. She was a member of the National Assembly (MP) from the LMP – Hungary's Green Party (Greens) National List from 2014 to 2022. She was elected leader of the party's parliamentary group in September 2016, serving in this capacity until February 2017. She served as co-chairperson of LMP from November 2019 to August 2024, when she left the party. Professional career After finishing secondary studies in Szerb Antal Secondary Grammar School in 1972, she graduated as an economist from the Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences (today Corvinus University of Budapest) in 1977. She began to work as a payroll manager at the Budapest Directorate of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV). Péter Róna
Péter Zsolt Róna (born 4 May 1942) is a Hungarian economist and lawyer. He has been fellow of Blackfriars Hall of the University of Oxford since 2010, where he lectures on the philosophical foundations of the social sciences. Róna was the nominee of the United for Hungary political alliance in the 2022 Hungarian presidential election. Between 1986 and 1990 he was president and CEO of J. Henry Schroders bank. Between 1990 and 2004 he was founding president of the Hungarian subsidiary of the bus manufacturing company NABI, and president and CEO of Első Magyar Alap. Róna was the nominee of the United for Hungary political alliance in the 2022 Hungarian presidential election. Fidesz–KDNP Party Alliance (), formerly also known as the Alliance of Hungarian Solidarity (), is a right-wing national conservative political alliance of two political parties in Hungary, the Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance (Fidesz) and the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP). The two parties jointly contested every national election since the 2006 parliamentary election. The Fidesz–KDNP party alliance has governed Hungary since 2010, altogether obtaining a supermajority in each of the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 national elections. 2022 Hungarian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on 3 April 2022 to elect the National Assembly, coinciding with a referendum. Hungary's incumbent prime minister Viktor Orbán won re-election to a fourth term. Addressing his supporters after the partial results showed Fidesz leading by a wide margin, Orbán said: "We won a victory so big that you can see it from the moon, and you can certainly see it from Brussels." Opposition leader Péter Márki-Zay admitted defeat shortly after Orbán's speech. Reuters described it as a "crushing victory". With 54.13% of the popular vote, Fidesz received the highest vote share by any party since the Fall of Communism in 1989.
