Erol Toy
Erol Toy (1 October 1936 – 13 March 2021) was a Turkish writer. Biography Toy was born in Manisa, Turkey, and started work after graduating from secondary school. After working as a baker, banker, creator of the mutual organization of sponge fishermen paralysed after decompression problems, he moved to Istanbul. He became a unionist by creating the Bank-İş union. Erol Toy who published his writings in several papers published his first novel in 1952 in the Çınar magazine. As a writer directing the YAZKO council, he wrote on the social, economical and political problems of Turkey. Erol Toy who used social realism, was known to the audience after the first publication of his ''İmparator'' (''the imperor'') novel in 1974. This novel is said to tell the life of Turkish billionaire Vehbi Koç, founder of the Koç group, (this novel was sold to 1.5 million since its publication, according to his publisher). Turkish People
Turks (), or Turkish people, are the largest Turkic peoples, Turkic ethnic group, comprising the majority of the population of Turkey and Northern Cyprus. They generally speak the various Turkish dialects. In addition, centuries-old Turkish communities in the former Ottoman Empire, ethnic Turkish communities still exist across other former territories of the Ottoman Empire. Article 66 of the Constitution of Turkey defines a ''Turk'' as anyone who is a citizen of the Turkish state. While the legal use of the term ''Turkish'' as it pertains to a citizen of Turkey is different from the term's ethnic definition, the majority of the Turkish population (an estimated 70 to 75 percent) are of Turkish ethnicity. The vast majority of Turks are Sunni Islam, Sunni Muslims, with a notable minority practicing Alevism. Manisa
Manisa () is a city in Turkey's Aegean Region and the administrative seat of Manisa Province, lying approximately 40 km northeast of the major city of İzmir. The city forms the urban part of the districts Şehzadeler and Yunusemre, with a population of 385,452 in 2022. Modern Manisa is a booming center of industry and services, advantaged by its closeness to the international port city and the regional metropolitan center of İzmir and by its fertile hinterland rich in quantity and variety of agricultural production. Vehbi Koç
Ahmet Vehbi Koç (20 July 1901 – 25 February 1996) was a Turkish billionaire, businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded the Koç Group, one of Turkey’s largest groups of companies. During his lifetime, he came to be one of Turkey's wealthiest citizens. He was also a well-known philanthropist with interests in health, education and the arts. Early life Vehbi Koç was born in 1901 in Çorakalı, a predominantly Muslim neighbourhood of Ankara. He then lived in a vineyard estate in the Keçiören district, since absorbed into Ankara.
