Ernesto Hernández Busto
Ernesto Hernández Busto (born 1968 in Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban writer living in Barcelona (Spain). Biography Born in Havana, Hernández Busto began university studies in mathematics in the former Soviet Union and returned to Havana to study Literature at the Pedagogical Institute. He was a member of Paideia, an independent research group that in the late 1980s attempted a renewal of the Cuban cultural scene and culminated in becoming a dissident platform. In 1992 he emigrated to Mexico, where he published regularly in the magazine Vuelta, directed by Octavio Paz, as well as other Mexican literary reviews. On two occasions, 1996 and 1998, he won the translation scholarship from FONCA. He also formed part of the editorial board of the journal ''Poesía y poética'', and worked for four years on editing its collection under the sponsorship of the Universidad Iberoamericana. Jorge Edwards
Jorge Edwards Valdés (29 June 1931 – 17 March 2023) was a Chilean novelist, journalist and diplomat. He was the Chilean ambassador to France during the first Sebastián Piñera presidency. Life and career Edwards attended law school at the Universidad de Chile. During the presidency of Salvador Allende, Edwards reopened the Chilean embassy in Havana,Cuba, but only three months later, he decided to leave the island. From this episode he wrote what is perhaps his most famous work, ''Persona non grata'' (1971), which made him world famous, in which he criticized the Cuban government. In June 1994, Edwards accepted the post of Ambassador for Chile before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which has its headquarters in Paris, a city where Edwards resided for many years. Freedom Collection is a digital repository sponsored by the George W. Bush Institute at the George W. Bush Presidential Center on Southern Methodist University's campus in Dallas, Texas. The collection documents major players in human rights and freedom movements around the world during the 20th and 21st centuries through video interviews and documents. Josefina Aldecoa
Josefina Aldecoa, originally known as Josefa Rodríguez Álvarez (8 March 1926 – 16 March 2011), was a Spanish writer and teacher born in León. She was married to the writer Ignacio Aldecoa, whose surname she adopted for her own literary career after his death. Josefina Aldecoa was the founder and Principal of the Colegio Estilo from 1959 until her death in 2011. She died on 16 March 2011 in Cantabria, due to respiratory problems, at the age of 85.
