Erndtebrück–Bad Berleburg Railway
The Erndtebrück–Bad Berleburg railway is a 20 km long branch line that branches off the Kreuztal–Cölbe railway from to . In Bad Berleburg there used to be a connection to the now largely dismantled Bad Berleburg–Allendorf railway to Frankenberg, Hesse, Frankenberg. The single-track, non-electrified railway line is operated as a Signalling block systems#One train working (without train staff), single block branch line. History The line was opened in 1911. Railbuses and locomotive-hauled trains were replaced by DB Class 628, class 628 multiple units in 1994. At the same time, the range of services was expanded and a regular-interval timetable with standard routes was introduced. Kreuztal Station
Kreuztal station is the main railway station in the town of Kreuztal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. History The construction of a rail link to Kreuztal was under discussion in the 1840s. The route most discussed at that time was a line from Cologne via the Agger (river), Agger valley (a route eventually used by the Siegburg–Olpe railway) and continuing east through the Wittgensteiner Land to Treysa along the route of the later Kreuztal–Cölbe railway. In 1861 the Ruhr–Sieg railway was opened between Siegen Hauptbahnhof, Siegen and Hagen Hauptbahnhof, Hagen through Kreuztal (then spelt Creuzthal). In 1884 the first section of the Kreuztal–Cölbe railway was opened to Hilchenbach. This led to Kreuztal gradually becoming a transport hub.
