Erland Kiøsterud
Erland Kiøsterud (born 10 November 1953) is a Norwegian novelist and author of essays about society, civilisation and ethics. He made his literary debut in 1973 with the novel ''Sår som aldri gror''. His next novel, ''Jord!'' (1977) was made into a film in 1988. He received the Gyldendal's Endowment in 1986, and was awarded the Riksmål Society Literature Prize in 2005. Gyldendal's Endowment
The Gyldendal Prize, formerly Gyldendal's Endowment, is a Norwegian literary prize awarded by the Norway, Norwegian publisher Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Gyldendal's Endowment was awarded from 1934 to 1995. It was superseded by the Gyldendal Prize in 1996. The prize is awarded for the entire body of the author's work and regardless of their publisher. History In 1996, the Gyldendal's endowment was superseded by the Gyldendal Prize, awarded for "particularly significant writing" over the body of a writer's work. Initially annual, since 2015 this prize has been awarded every two years. With a monetary value of 50,000 Euros, it is Norway's richest literary prize. Previous winners include Dag Solstad, Jon Fosse, Vigdis Hjorth, Karl Ove Knausgård and Per Petterson. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' (, abbreviated ''SNL'') is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. It has several subdivisions, including the Norsk biografisk leksikon. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with up to 3.5 million unique visitors per month. Paper editions (1978–2007) The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Up until 1978 the two publishing houses of Aschehoug and Gyldendal, Norway's two largest, had published ' and ', respectively. The respective first editions were published in 1906–1913 (Aschehoug) and 1933–1934 (Gyldendal). Ecocentric Human
Ecocentrism (; from Greek: οἶκος /ˈoi.kos/ ''oikos'', 'house' and κέντρον /ˈken.tron/ ''kentron'', 'center') is a term used by environmental philosophers and ecologists to denote a nature-centered, as opposed to human-centered (i.e., anthropocentric), system of values. The justification for ecocentrism usually consists in an ontological belief and subsequent ethical claim. The ontological belief denies that there are any existential divisions between human and non-human nature sufficient to claim that humans are either (a) the sole bearers of intrinsic value or (b) possess greater intrinsic value than non-human nature. Thus the subsequent ethical claim is for an equality of intrinsic value across human and non-human nature, or biospherical egalitarianism.
