Erla Þorsteinsdóttir (singer)
Erla Þorsteinsdóttir (22 January 1933 – 25 September 2022) was an Icelandic singer who had considerable success in Iceland and Denmark in the 1950s. She first performed in Iceland in 1954 in the nightclub ''Jaðri''. She sang one of the first Icelandic rock and roll songs called ''Vagg og velta'' which was controversially banned from playing in the state owned RÚV. In 1956, her single with the songs ''Heimþrá'' and ''Hljóðaklettur'' was the most sold record in Iceland. Personal life Erla was born in Sauðárkrókur to Ingibjörg Konráðsdóttir and Þorsteinn Sigurðsson. She married Paul Eduard Danchell, the founder of the Danish electronic company ''Paul E. Danchell A / S'', in 1955. Haukur Morthens
Gústav Haukur Morthens (17 May 1924 – 13 October 1992) was an Icelandic singer. He was one of the most beloved singers in Iceland in the second half of the 20th century. He began his singing career at Góðtemplarahúsið in 1944 before performing with several bands over the next years. Haukur formed his own band in 1958 and then sang with it for the longest time. He went on singing tours to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, England, the Soviet Union, Canada, the United States and Austria and won prizes and recognition in several song competitions abroad. It is currently the country's only daily printed newspaper and the newspaper of record.
