Erik Åström
Erik Johannes "Åsa" Åström (23 February 1902 – 25 April 1971) was a Finnish sprinter. He set Finnish records at 200 m and 400 m and competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. Career Åström first became Finnish champion at 200 m in 1921; his time 22.1 was better than the national record, but was not accepted due to a suspect start. At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris Åström represented Finland in both the 400 m individual race and the 4 × 400 m relay; he qualified from the heats in the individual race, but did not take part in the second round. Sprinting is running over a short distance at the top-most speed of the body in a limited period of time. It is used in many sports that incorporate running, typically as a way of quickly reaching a target or goal, or avoiding or catching an opponent. Bror Erik Byléhn (15 January 1898 – 14 November 1986) was a middle-distance runner from Sweden who competed at the 1924 and 1928 Olympics. In 1924 he won a silver medal in the 4 × 400 m relay and failed to reach the finals of individual 400 m and 800 m races. Four years later he won a silver medal in the 800 m, whereas his 4 × 400 m team finished in fourth place. Nils Engdahl (4 November 1898 – 10 September 1983) was a Swedish runner who competed at the 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics. Career Together with his brother, Wilhelm "Wille" Engdahl, Nils Engdahl played football for IFK Stockholm before changing to athletics in 1917. He finished second behind Guy Butler in the 440 yards event at the British 1919 AAA Championships. At the Olympic Games, Engdahl had his best achievements in the 4 × 400 m relay, in which his teams finished fifth and second in 1920 and 1924, respectively. Individually he won a bronze medal in the 400 m in 1920. From 1920 to 1935 he held Swedish records in the 200 m and from 1918 to 1934 in the 400 m.
