Eric Lavell Dailey Jr. (born January 15, 2004) is an American college basketball player for the UCLA Bruins men's basketball, UCLA Bruins of the Big Ten Conference. He began his college career playing one season for the Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball, Oklahoma State Cowboys. Early life and high school career Eric Dailey Jr. was born in 2004 in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in Bradenton, Florida. He grew up in a basketball-oriented family, with his mother, Shell Dailey, Shell, being a former national champion with the University of Texas women's basketball program and his father, Eric Sr., being a former professional basketball player. Dailey attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, where he developed his skills as a versatile forward. He was selected to play in the 2023 Nike Hoops Summit. The small forward (SF), also known as the three, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. Small forwards are typically shorter, quicker, and leaner than Power forward (basketball), power forwards and Center (basketball), centers but taller, larger, and stronger than either of the guard positions. They are strategic and are often relied upon to score, defend, create open lanes, and rebound for their team. The small forward is considered to be perhaps the most versatile of the five main basketball positions as they contribute offensively and defensively. In the NBA, small forwards typically range from 6' 6" (1.98 m) to 6' 9" (2.06 m); in the WNBA, they are usually between 6' 0" (1.83 m) to 6' 2" (1.88 m).
