''Entre eux deux'' is the sixth studio album and the first collaborative album by American singer and songwriter Melody Gardot and Brasilian pianist Philippe Powell. Decca released the album on . Background The album was recorded in Paris and offers ten jazz torch songs mostly written by bandmembers. In contrast to Gardot's previous albums, this record is a more minimalist collection—she has recorded it only with a pianist for accompaniment rather than with a full band, probably for the first time in her career. Melody Gardot (; born February 2, 1985) is an American jazz singer. At the age of 19, Gardot was hit by an SUV and sustained a head injury. Music played a critical role in her recovery. She became an advocate of music therapy, visiting hospitals and universities to discuss its benefits. In 2012, she gave her name to a music therapy program in New Jersey. Early life and education Gardot was born in New Jersey and was brought up by her grandparents. Her grandmother was a Polish immigrant. Her mother, a photographer, traveled often, so they had few possessions and lived out of suitcases. Gardot studied fashion at the Community College of Philadelphia. Baden Powell de Aquino (; 6 August 1937 – 26 September 2000), known professionally as Baden Powell, was a Brazilian virtuoso guitarist and composer. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and Swing music, swing. He performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and música popular brasileira, MPB. He performed on stage during most of his lifetime. Francis Albert Lai (; 26 April 19327 November 2018) was a French composer, noted for his film scores. He won the 1970 Oscar for Best Music, Original Score and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for the film '' Love Story''.
