Enterprise Solar Farm
The Enterprise Solar Farm is an 80  MWAC (105  MWp) photovoltaic power station located about 25 miles west of Cedar City, Utah in Iron County. The project was developed by SunEdison, built by Mortenson Construction, and commissioned in September 2016. The electricity is being sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement to Rocky Mountain Power which serves customers in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. Project details Planning was initiated by the independent renewable energy developer First Wind (founded 2002) which began expanding into photovoltaic energy around 2012. The Enterprise Solar Farm comprises a minority of the 320MW Four Brothers Project, which also includes the three co-located 80 MW Escalante Solar Project units located about 5 miles north of Milford, Utah in Beaver County. The land area for each 80 MW unit ranges from 600 to 700 acres. First Wind and its extensive portfolio of assets in western Utah were acquired by SunEd ...

Iron County, Utah
Iron County is a county in southwestern Utah, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 57,289. Its county seat is Parowan, and the largest city is Cedar City. The Cedar City, UT Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Iron County. History Evidence of Fremont culture habitation ranging from 750 to 1250 AD exists in present Iron County. Petroglyphs of differing periods were carved into the walls of Parowan Gap NW of Parowan. Paiutes roamed the Parowan Valley in the centuries before Euro-American exploration; their descendants are now represented by the Southern Paiute Indian Reservation, which is headquartered in Cedar City. The Domínguez–Escalante expedition traveled through the Iron County area on October 12, 1776. Fur trapper Jedediah Smith is the first recorded Anglo-American to pass through the area (1826). Settlement of the area began in 1851, when LDS President Brigham Young directed members from the northern colonies to move ...

Seven Sisters Solar Project
Seven Sisters Solar Project is a 22.6  MWp (20.2  MWAC) photovoltaic power station consisting of seven units dispersed across Beaver County and Iron County, Utah. The project was developed by SunEdison, built by Swinerton Renewable Energy, and completed in September 2016. The electricity is being sold to Rocky Mountain Power under seven separate 20-year power purchase agreements. Project details The project consists of seven separate units distributed on private land at sunny and cool elevations near 6,000 feet. Planning for the project was initiated by the independent renewable energy developer First Wind (founded 2002) which began expanding into photovoltaic energy around 2012. First Wind and its extensive portfolio of assets in western Utah were acquired by SunEdison and its TerraForm Power yield co in November 2014. Construction of Seven Sisters began several months later in April 2015. Construction progressed simultaneously at all seven sites, cr ...

Photovoltaic Power Stations In The United States
Photovoltaics (PV) is the conversion of light into electricity using semiconducting materials that exhibit the photovoltaic effect, a phenomenon studied in physics, photochemistry, and electrochemistry. The photovoltaic effect is commercially used for electricity generation and as photosensors. A photovoltaic system employs solar modules, each comprising a number of solar cells, which generate electrical power. PV installations may be ground-mounted, rooftop-mounted, wall-mounted or floating. The mount may be fixed or use a solar tracker to follow the sun across the sky. Photovoltaic technology helps to mitigate climate change because it emits much less carbon dioxide than fossil fuels. Solar PV has specific advantages as an energy source: once installed, its operation does not generate any pollution or any greenhouse gas emissions; it shows scalability in respect of power needs and silicon has large availability in the Earth's crust, although other materials required in PV s ...

List Of Power Stations In Utah
This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in the U.S. state of Utah, sorted by type and name. In 2022, Utah had a total summer capacity of 9,627 MW through all of its power plants, and a net generation of 39,386 GWh. In 2023, the electrical energy generation mix was 47.2% coal, 35.4% natural gas, 11.6% solar, 2% wind, 1.6% hydroelectric, 1.5% geothermal, 0.2% biomass, 0.1% petroleum, and 0.3% other. Small-scale solar including customer-owned photovoltaic panels delivered an additional net 906 GWh to Utah's electricity grid in 2023. This compares as less than one-fourth the amount generated by Utah's utility-scale PV plants. Coal previously generated 81% of Utah's electricity in 2013 and has been undergoing a gradual replacement with natural gas and renewables. Natural-fuels power stations Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration serves as a general reference. Coal-fired Oil-fired Natural gas-fired Renewable power stations Da ...
