English is an unincorporated community located at County Road 42 and Oyster Creek in northern Brazoria County, Texas, United States. It is located within the Greater Houston metropolitan area. History The community may have been named after the family of an area resident named "Buck" English. English began as a station of the Sugar Land Railway, located north of what is now Farm to Market Road 1462 on Oyster Creek. In 1917, English had a general store and a cotton gin. In 1921, a post office opened in English, closing in 1924 with its functions transferring to the office in Sandy Point. Angleton High School is a public high school located just outside the city of Angleton, Texas, United States in unincorporated Brazoria County. It is classified as a 5A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is a part of the Angleton Independent School District located in south central Brazoria County. In 2015, the school was rated " Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. Several previous school locations were destroyed by hurricanes. Angleton is a city in and the county seat of Brazoria County, Texas, United States, within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. Sandy Point is a city on Farm to Market Road 521 (FM 521) in north central Brazoria County, Texas, United States. The small community is located near a state prison. In the 19th century, the settlement served nearby sugar cane and cotton plantations. Sandy Point's post office, school and railroad have disappeared, but there were two churches in the community in December 2013. Farm to Market Road 1462 (FM 1462) is a farm to market road located in Brazoria and Fort Bend counties, Texas. Route description FM 1462 begins at SH 36 at the community of Damon in Brazoria County. The road follows a northeasterly path, entering Fort Bend County and turning to the east. It has a junction with FM 762, which provides access to Brazos Bend State Park and the George Observatory via PR 72. FM 1462 crosses over the Brazos River and returns to Brazoria County. Seven miles east of the bridge is Rosharon and the intersection of FM 521. The route then has an interchange with the SH 288 freeway.
