Emőke Baráth
Emőke Baráth (born November 21, 1985) is a Hungarian soprano. She began her musical studies in Gödöllő, majoring in piano and cello, and then continued harp and vocal studies at thKing St. Stephen's Secondary School of Music in Budapest She began her singing studies under the direction of József Hormai. Her teacher at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music (2007-2012) was Júlia Pászthy, and in the 2011/2012 academic year she also graduated from the Florence Conservatory, where she was a student of Leonardo de Lisi. She participated in the master classes of Barbara Bonney, Kiri Te Kanawa, Éva Marton, Klára Kolonits, Nancy Argenta, Masaaki Suzuki, Alfred Brendel, Ferenc Rados, Sass Sass, Deborah York, Nicholas Clapton and Andrea Meláth. Already at the beginning of her career, Baráth gained many national and international recognitions. Florence Conservatory
The Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini, better known in English as the Florence Conservatory is a music conservatory in Florence, Italy. It is the only music conservatory in Tuscany with the status of a national conservatory, and is operated by the government of Italy. Elena (opera)
''Elena'' is a 1659 ''dramma per musica'' in a prologue and three acts by Francesco Cavalli. It is set to a libretto initiated by Giovanni Faustini (who died in 1651) and completed by Nicolò Minato, and it was first performed in Venice at the Teatro San Cassiano (the dedication is 26 December 1659). ''Elena'' was revived in 1661 in Palermo but then not heard again until 2013, at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. Just like many other operas by Cavalli, ''Elena'' includes a ballo, or an Italian dance which incorporates singers, choristers, and instrumentalists. However, it soon began to be replaced by something analogous to the intermedio, sometimes incorporating a chorus. Leonardo García Alarcón
Leonardo García-Alarcón (born 5 August 1976 in La Plata) is an Argentinian conductor specializing in baroque music. He studied harpsichord and organ and was assistant to Gabriel Garrido for several years, before founding the ensemble Cappella Mediterranea, with whom he has performed at many festivals, particularly the Festival d'Ambronay. Following a performance of ''Il diluvio universale'' by Michelangelo Falvetti (1642–1692), he received the médaille de citoyen d'honneur d'Ambronay. He teaches at the Geneva Conservatoire and carries out research into 17th century basso continuo playing. He shares direction of the Ensemble Clematis with violinist Stéphanie de Failly. Since 2010 he is artistic director of the Chœur de chambre de Namur, and La Nouvelle Ménestrandie. ''Hipermestra'' is an opera in a prologue and 3 acts by Francesco Cavalli - more specifically, it is a ''festa teatrale''. The opera was set to a libretto by G. A. Moniglia, and was first performed at Florence on 12 June 1658. The plot is based upon the ancient tale of Hypermnestra, a story that also later served as a basis for a well-known libretto '' Ipermestra'' by Metastasio. It was staged several times up to 1680. Modern performances The opera was revived by the Early Music festival in Utrecht in 2006 by La Sfera Armoniosa under Mike Fentross. Glyndebourne Festival Opera is an annual opera festival held at Glyndebourne, an English country house near Lewes, in East Sussex, England.
