Emily Koski
Emily Hofstede Koski is an American businesswoman and politician from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Koski has served on the Minneapolis City Council, representing the 11th Ward in South Minneapolis, since 2022, and ran for mayor of Minneapolis in 2025. Early life and family Koski was born in Minneapolis to Albert Hofstede, then the mayor of Minneapolis, and Barbara Hofstede. Her mother died of breast cancer when Koski was eight years old; her father remarried, and her stepmother adopted her. Her father served as mayor for two terms, from 1974 to 1975 and from 1978 to 1979. Her aunt, Diane Hofstede, was a city council member from 2005 to 2013. Albert Hofstede
Albert "Al" J. Hofstede (September 25, 1940 – September 3, 2016) was an American politician who served two non-consecutive terms as mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, both times representing the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. Political career Over the course of his career, Hofstede served Minnesota governor Karl Rolvaag, was a member of the Minneapolis City Council for four years, a chairperson of the Metropolitan Council from 1971 to 1973, and mayor of Minneapolis for two terms. His position as Metropolitan Council chairperson was granted by governor Wendell Anderson. Hofstede was Minneapolis's first Roman Catholic mayor as well as its youngest at the time of his first election; his first term, as the city's 41st mayor, began on January 1, 1974, when he was 34 years old. 2023 Minneapolis City Council Election
The 2023 Minneapolis City Council election took place in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States on November 7, 2023. The Minneapolis City Council is made up of 13 members, with one council member representing each of the city's 13 wards. Typically, council members serve four year terms, but due to census redistricting, the 2021 and 2023 elections were for two-year terms.
