Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta
Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta (2 March 1895 – 23 September 1972) was a Mexican businessman, known for founding the entertainment conglomerate Telesistema Mexicano (now Televisa). Early life Azcárraga was born on 2 March 1895 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, to Basque people, Basque immigrants Mariano Azcárraga and Emilia Vidaurreta. He started his primary education was in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. His family moved to Texas, where he attended middle school in San Antonio and high school in Austin, Texas, Austin. He obtained distribution rights for a shoe manufacturer in Boston and, at age 23, he created the car distribution company, ''Azcárraga & Copland''. Radio broadcasting industry In 1923, Azcárraga obtained a license to distribute radios from the Victor Talking Machine Company. Telesistema Mexicano
Telesistema Mexicano was the predecessor of Televisa. Telesistema Mexicano was a television alliance made up of the independently owned television flagship stations XEW-TV, XEW Canal 2, XHTV-TV, XHTV Canal 4, and XHGC-TV, XHGC Canal 5 in Mexico, Distrito Federal. History Telesistema Mexicano was founded in 1955 when Mexico, Distrito Federal television stations XEW-TV, XEW Canal 2 owned by Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta, XHTV-TV, XHTV Canal 4 owned by Rómulo O'Farrill, XHGC-TV, XHGC Canal 5 owned by Guillermo González Camarena, and capital and expertise from Ernesto Barrientos Ventosa merged to form an alliance. Estudios Churubusco
Estudios Churubusco is one of the oldest and largest movie studios in Mexico. It is located in the Churubusco neighborhood of Mexico City. History It was inaugurated in 1945 after a 1943 agreement between RKO and Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta (of Televisa). In 1950, it was acquired by the government of Mexico and merged with Estudios y Laboratorios Azteca to form Estudios Churubusco Azteca. Since 1958 it has been controlled by the government of Mexico. Of the four motion picture studios during the golden age of Mexican cinema—the others were Estudios America, Estudios San Angel and Estudios Tepeyac—it and Televisa San Angel (the former Estudios San Angel) are still in operation. It is estimated that 95% of the films produced in Mexico since 2000 have used many of the services the studio provides. Manuel Buendía Tellezgirón (24 May 1926 – 30 May 1984) was a Mexican journalist and political columnist who last worked for the daily ''Excélsior'', one of the most-read newspapers in Mexico City. His direct reporting style in his column ''Red Privada'' ("Private Network"), which publicly exposed government and law enforcement corruption, organized crime, and drug trafficking, was distributed and read in over 200 newspapers across Mexico. Born in the state of Michoacán, Buendía first wrote for ''La Nación'', the official magazine of the National Action Party (PAN).
